There are a lot of decisions to make when building a pole barn. From the overall building design to figuring out proper site preparation, and even choosing your building colors. Aside from pole barn costs, one of the even bigger decisions to make is trying to figure out the proper amount of square footage you will need...without running out of space. That could be tricky, right? Trust me when I say that we hear this all the time from our customers, “I wish I would have made my building bigger.” And we get it.

After several months (or years) of kicking the idea around of building a pole barn, you’ve finally made the decision that you’re going to move forward with this long overdue project. You’ve spoken to friends who have a post frame building, you’ve done your research online, and you’ve probably even read Google reviews on who the best pole barn builders are. Your decisions have been narrowed down to the top three builders (in your opinion), and you want to do your due diligence and make sure you get an apples to apples quote comparison.

Once your pole barn project is complete, it’s probably a relief. You spent months (or maybe years) designing the perfect post-frame building. Every detail was thoroughly considered, right down to the type of weathervane installed on your cupola.

If we told you that the small details take up the most time when planning the perfect post frame building design, would you believe us? Some of you might. Some of you might not. Let’s think about that statement for a minute. Think about all of the small details that go into planning a building. From color selections, window options added features like cupolas and weathervanes to overhangs and mansards. Are those things that you thought about before having a building constructed? Or, are those afterthoughts? My guess is it’s a good mixture of both.

Do you have an existing storage shed or even a two-car garage that is overflowing with bikes, Christmas decorations, fishing poles, or even extra boxes and totes that you don’t know where to store? Or are you looking for more storage space for that recently purchased (and still shiny) ATV? If so, it may be time for you to consider building a new pole barn garage.

Are you the type of person who likes to take weekly drives through the countryside? It’s okay to admit it. We don’t mind taking the scenic route from time to time. If so, you probably tend to pay attention to the surrounding neighborhood activity. It’s not uncommon for your eagle eyes to notice someone building a new house or post frame building. As you made the journey back home, one construction site caught your eye — a wide pole barn with 100’ clear-span trusses. You’ve never seen anything like it before.
