You have landed in the right place if you want to build an agricultural building, a post-frame home, or a hobby barn. Regarding this purchase, it is not the $50 you would spend at a local Mexican restaurant or a couple hundred dollar handyman bill. A pole barn could be a $30,000-$300,000 investment. Pole barn columns, also known as posts, are the backbone of your post-frame building. They bear the weight of the entire roof system (including purlins and trusses) and ensure all structural loads (such as snow and wind) are transferred to the foundation. In other words, posts play a significant role in your pole barn’s structural integrity. However, it’s common to encounter rotted wood in older post-frame buildings dating back to the 1980s and 1990s.

Today, our dream has shifted towards a shouse we would use as a hunting cabin, workshop, and storage. Since working at FBi Buildings, I have learned a lot about pole barns and how they often are not a cheaper solution for residential living when compared to a traditional home.
