Project Planning Saves You Money, Time and Stress
Building a new building can be complicated – but not if you start at literally the ground up. A successful project starts with the ideal site selection and then preparing the site to maximize its usefulness and save money in the process. Keep in mind that good, early decisions make for the best long-term building. Plus, it’s also critical from the start to carefully consider functions: the purpose of the building – office, equipment shed or barn.
Start by determining the location.
Where you put your new building is as important as what it will be used for. Whether you work with your contractor or pick the location yourself, look for well-established, level ground. The location of your new building must be able to bear the load of a new structure.

But, there are other things to consider when planning ahead.
- Will there be adjoining buildings?
- How often do you anticipate having semis or other large vehicles access the building?
- Does the building need to be in the line of sight of other buildings?
- How accessible is electricity?
- Was there a previous building there that might have left behind underground structures or utilities to work around?
Make sure the site is accessible – remember curvy lanes, trees and other buildings will influence how easily your contractor can get equipment and materials to the site. The less hassle your contractor has does save you money.
